4th TMG GT86 Cup race: Dörr Motorsport wins hot Eifel race

In thefourth TMG GT86 Cup race, Arne Hoffmeister and Fabian Wrabetz kept cool in the heat and won convincingly. For the cup defenders, it has been the  thirds win in a row. In an impressive battle for second place, the Toyota Swiss Racing team with Manuel Amweg and Thomas Lampert won by a whisker of Wolfgang and Kevin Hönscheid (WH Motorsport).

While the leaders, starting from the pole position, were unbeatable from start to finish, ending with an edge of 2.35,245 minutes over the others, the battle for the following places saw two exciting duels. Second place was fought by Toyota Swiss Racing Team and WH Motorsport in a literally hot race. The two teams swapped positions many times in this four-hour contest in the heat. In the end, the Swiss-Liechtenstein duo had an edge of 1.09,693 minutes, winning over father and son Hönscheid. The latter can find comfort in the fact that after their bad luck in the thirds race place four, they now came in third.

Taking place slightly behind the top three, but also being very exciting, was the duel for fourth place. The rookies Florian Wolf and Nils Jung, in another Dörr Motorsport GT86-Cup racer, finished slightly before the Belgian team Pit Lane with “Brody“, Bruno Barbaro and their boss, Olivier Muytjens, behind the wheel of their Toyota GT86 CS-V3.

Exhausted but happy was Fabian Wrabetz after the race: “We stuck with our plan despite the heat and did the race in two double stints. Our car was perfect, but physically it was really tough, especially since over the last two laps I had nothing to drink.. The temperature in the cockpit meant that today the Nordschleife really was a ‘green hell,” said the 25-year-old student of Automotive & Motorsport Engineering.

Nico Ehlert, Principal Engineer Customer Motorsport: “Well, we have had rain, fog and bitter cold for our Nordschleife cup but never a heat like this. This was very taxing for both the drivers and the cars. I am thus very content that our cars all came through without any technical problems.“
