“I hadn’t really taken notice until a thrilled Uwe Isert, our team boss, told us,” says Arne Hoffmeister (Dörr Motorsport), currently in the lead in the TMG GT86 Cup: He and his teammate Fabian Wrabetz are not only fighting for the TMG GT86 Cup, but also for the VLN title. Before the 5th race on 1 August, Arne Hoffmeister and Fabian Wrabetz rank third in the VLN table, only 0.77 points behind the former VLN champions Dirk and Tim Groneck (Groneck Motorsport).
But the defenders’ main goal is to win the TMG GT86 Cup once again. “To be sure, it is also very nice to be at the top of the VLN table, but it is still rather early in the season and there are classes fielding more cars than ours. It is only that their drivers have not as yet been scoring as consistently as we have. We are still focusing upon the TMG GT86 Cup,” Hoffmeister says.
Therefore, Dörr Motorsport will not apply any new strategy in the next race. “We know what we, our car and our team are able to do and count on our well-oiled mechanisms,“ Arne Hoffmeister continues. “Our prime objective is to win races. After all, this is the best thing to do, also to climb the VLN table.“
Nico Ehlert, Principal Engineer Customer Motorsport: “That our customer teams do not only fight for the TMG GT86 Cup but also for the VLN title makes us very proud and shows that with smaller cars, as some might call them, you can win big titles, too. The season is young, but the teams and drivers’ performance has been very impressive so far and we very much hope that this will remain so.“
