Kazuki Nakajima in the WEC Press Conference

Ahead of this weekend’s Six Hours of Fuji, the FIA World Endurance Championship invited all Japanese drivers – including Kazuki Nakajima – to the traditional pre-event press conference. Here is a little flavour of what Kazuki had to say:

What have you been up to since Silverstone?

First of all welcome to Fuji because this is my home track, and also the home track for TOYOTA. It is nice to race here with the WEC series. Since Silverstone I have been racing in Japan for Super GT. But since the podium at Silverstone I haven’t had really good results in Japan so I am really hoping to have good result this weekend. I saw the team has done a really good job, particularly in Brazil – it’s a pity I wasn’t there! I am happy and quite confident we can have the same performance here.

What about this weekend?

The result in Brazil is a good benchmark for here. We are showing good performance in practice and I am sure we can be even stronger in the race. I am looking forward to it. It is really a home track for TOYOTA and we have the powertrain factory really close, so we have a lot of people related to this project coming to this race. It is not pressure; it is motivation for us. The important thing is to keep it simple and see how it goes.

How did you watch the win in Brazil?

I was just following the result on the website because I was having a testing session in Japan so I was not able to stay up late.
