Paul Ricard test : Drivers Comments

Alex Wurz: “Before Le Mans is always an intense time. It is the last test to check all the settings and the time to make the ultimate choice. It was also the opportunity to work on race procedures. I can’t wait to drive on this famous 13.629km circuit! We know that is an ambitious program and that it started late in the winter. We have worked hard to be in position to conquer the challenge of Le Mans and I am looking forward to it.”

Nicolas Lapierre: “I mainly concentrated on the development side, both in rainy and dry conditions. Despite the bad wheather, this testing on wet track has been constructive. It was important for us to see how the new aero package performed on these conditions. We made some good progress, both in terms of chassis and engine.”

Kazuki Nakajima: “During my day stints, I work on the tyres and the conclusions were pretty clear. I still have some things to learn regarding the car and this type of racing and this test gave me the opportunity to continue to discover the hybrid technology; this is always very interesting. By night, visibility on this track is not easy, but my lap times have been consistent. It is positive. The car improves at each test.”

Stéphane Sarrazin : “I had a very good feeling with the car very quickly. I like it! The TS030 HYBRID is reactive, quite predictable which is good. It is very agile, which will be nice at Le Mans is the chicane or Porsche corner etc. I am looking forward to be there with this car. It is running well and shows encouraging performance, even if we still have to keep working hard. The potential looks good.
Regarding the hybrid system, it is surprising and impressive, including the start in the pitlane.  The system seems to be very well integrated to the car: it is really part of the car and not something that has been added after.”

Anthony Davidson: “Personally, it was good to drive again to learn the car more on a circuit that I know very well.  I still feel the TS030 HYBRID is quick on different conditions and continues to be kind on the tyres, which is a good sign for Le Mans. There are still details we need to improve. The challenge is not going to be easy, but we have a good potential; I remain positive but also realistic. Compared to MotorLand, the track was more green and it could be more representative of Le Mans.”

Sébastien Buemi: “My stints have been going well. I was able to cover a lot of kilometers at the wheel and I am satisfied by my lap times. I only retain positive things from my runs, even if I had to leave before the end of the endurance test because of my other commitments. Next session will be at Le Mans and I am looking forward to discover this circuit. We still have work to do and progress to be made; we have to keep in mind that this is our first year and we will learn a lot.”
