With the Prologue official test underway, we caught up with Sébastien Buemi after his morning stint behind the wheel of the #8 TS040 HYBRID:
How is the Prologue going?
We managed quite a lot of laps and looked at various things. The team is working hard, the spirit is good. We haven’t shown our full potential and we don’t know yet exactly what the others can do. In many ways this test is a good opportunity because this is the first time for us to have a pre-season test with our competitors. So we have something like a comparison, even if it’s hard to know what to read into the results. We also get mileage in the traffic which is very good after the winter break. Driving on the same track as the GT cars is not so easy, so it is good to get into the rhythm before the first race. It is a very good and well organised event. It is a good idea to organise a prologue like this.
How about the TS040 HYBRID, with the season coming up fast?
We are in our fifth test and we are getting used to the car and starting to understand in more detail what it can do. We are working through various points, things are coming together. I am looking forward to the start of the season. It is coming quickly now but since the three years we have been in WEC we have never been as prepared as we are now. It doesn’t guarantee we will have a great season but I think it is already a good start. We are better prepared than last year and I am looking forward to it.
