As the year 2015 draws to a close, we caught up with Stéphane Sarrazin, who has high hopes for 2016.
Can you describe your 2015 season?
The season was not good as we expected. We had the best car in 2014, we had a strong testing performance in the winter and improved our lap times a lot. But the others made a bigger step, so it was a disappointing year. We did our best and pushed every time. I felt good in the car and felt I drove pretty well all season but the car was missing some performance. It was not as expected but we are pushing really hard and we will be back, I am convinced of that.
How did you stay motivated?
We are six drivers and we push each other. We don’t give up; we just push for the team because mechanics and engineers, the whole team, is pushing every day at the office and at the track. So we have to give our best. For me it is no difference if I fight for the win or for fifth, I give my best.
Has there been any highlight of the 2015 season?
In general I felt in good shape in the car and had a good feeling, but the only real highlight was in Bahrain when we got back on to the podium. The team deserved that moment, after a difficult season.
What do you plan during winter?
Training, resting and Formula E racing. I want to arrive at the first race really sharp, ready for a big fight and to win again.
What are your hopes for next year?
Win Le Mans. We have to try to put everything together to be reliable and fast. That is my target.
