The 2014 TMG GT86 Cup season gets under way on 21 March with the traditional two-day pre-season VLN test session at the Nürburgring.
The competition, which is exclusively for GT86 CS-V3 race cars produced by TOYOTA Motorsport GmbH (TMG), is entering its second season after a successful first campaign saw entries increase throughout the season.
Competition proper begins on 29 March with the first race but preparations begin already one week earlier with the final chance for participants to tune their cars for the coming season.
“Finally the season is starting,” says Nico Ehlert, TMG’s Principal Engineer Customer Motorsport. “We are looking forward to exciting races and first-class motorsport. All participants will drive under the same conditions and the increasing number of drivers shows that our car and regulation upgrades have been very well received.”
Like last year, the TMG GT86 Cup drivers are not only fighting for points; an attractive prize fund is also up for grabs. TMG has increased the total prize money to €86,000, with the TMG GT86 Cup champion earning €25,000. Second place will get €18,000, with third taking €13,000 and prize money paid out down to eighth in the final standings.
Additionally TMG is offering attractive in-kind benefits. Each race winner will win a set of high-performance tyres from the official Cup partner Pirelli while teams and driver will again benefit from on-site support, including a spare parts service.
