TOYOTA Motorsport GmbH (TMG) extended the TMG GT86 Cup, which runs within the popular VLN championship at the Nürburgring, until at least 2015 some time ago. And although this season still has two races to go, next year’s has long since been in preparation. That is why TMG provides interested drivers with an opportunity to test the GT86 CS-V3 car on the Nürburgring grand prix course on Friday 24 October, the day before the final Cup race on the season.
TMG started the Cup in 2013 and it has become a fixture in VLN. The CS-V3 race car is a fast and reliable car which has regularly achieved impressive lap times of under 10 minutes. ”To drive this car on the Nordschleife is huge fun. If you know how to drive a good line and use the momentum in all the many corners, you can even be faster than some of the better-powered cars,” says Arne Hoffmeister, the current leader in the overall Cup ranking, about the CS-V3’s handling.
Teams are always technically supported on site and also benefit from a good prize money, many in-kind prizes and the opportunity to compete on one of the most legendary tracks there is, the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Needless to say, the Cup’s price-performance ratio is also a positive factor for the teams.
In 2015 there will be another good reason to participate. Drivers will be able to receive the category A Nordschleife licence. After all, from 2015 this will be a prerequisite for starting in a new class in which the series’ top GT cars will drive.
The CS-V3 test will take place on the morning of 24 October. You need to have a valid driving licence, a race driver’s licence (at least National A), your own complete racing equipment (incl. HANS) of a valid FIA standard and be at least 18 years old. It goes without saying that all drivers will be able to ask questions to Cup representatives. The test is comprised of 2×4 laps on the grand prix course. For more information and a registration form, please send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org. If you then buy a CS-V3 car from TMG, the costs of the test will partly be set off against the purchase price. The number of test places is limited and the places will be awarded by on a first come, first served basis.
Nico Ehlert, Principal Engineer Customer Motorsport: “When developing the TMG CS-V3 for our TMG GT86 Cup, we have not only considered its performance but also its safety and handling. In the two years in the ‘green hell’ it has shown its qualities in full. It is fun to drive, poses a challenge to ambitious Nordschleife drivers but at the same time is very suitable for long-haul rookies. Our unique overall package leaves us well equipped for the Cup’s third season.“
