The notorious Eifel weather rendered the 8th race of the TMG GT86 Cup, impossible. “It was a real pity that the teams who participate in the Cup had come all the way for nothing. But in these conditions, the race simply couldn’t take place. Safety comes first, so the race organisers’ decision was perfectly correct,” says Nico Ehlert, Principal Engineer Customer Motorsport, TOYOTA Motorsport GmbH (TMG).
The qualifying session on Saturday morning also had to be cancelled because of the bad weather. At that time, Sarah and Nigel Moore, the British siblings driving for Vantage Motorsport, in car #539 ranked first, closely followed by Toyota Swiss Racing. All the TMG GT86 CS-V3 race cars in the Cup are equipped with high-performance tyres from Pirelli, a partner of the series. But even these tyres’ grip doesn’t help if the drivers cannot see the other side of the track. The next TMG GT 86 Cup race is planned for 11 October.
