After a near-two-month break, the TMG GT86 Cup competitors will resume battle on 5 July with the fifth race of the season at the Nürburgring.
Toyota Swiss Racing is especially motivated. In the previous four TMG GT86 Cup races, the team headed by Hannes Gautschi has come within a whisker of a win twice. But the Swiss team from Safenwil in in northern Switzerland, enters the fifth round of the TMG GT86 Cup on a roll having won the V3 class in the Nürburgring 24 Hours for the third time in a row.
“I hope that we can ride on this wave of success and score our first win in the TMG GT86 Cup this season. Our drivers will certainly be very motivated by this win,” Toyota Swiss Racing boss Hannes Gautschi said.
Drivers Roland Schmid, Roger Vögeli, Olivier Burri and Werner Schmid, who are all flying the flag for Toyota Swiss Racing in the TMG GT86 Cup, took the chequered flag first in class in their GT86 CS-V3 race car after 24 hours after 126 laps, with their sister car making it a one-two for Toyota Swiss Racing. Dörr Motorsport had even fielded four of the impressive GT86 CS-V3 race cars and ranked four, fifth and seventh in the V3 class.
The GT86 CS-V3, developed by TMG, again performed excellently at the 24-hour race, with six cars in the top seven and no reliability concerns. All competitors had access to spares and technical support, which was provided on site by TMG.
Nico Ehlert, Principal Engineer Customer Motorsport: “The Nürburgring 24 Hours was one of the most exciting in its history. In the very competitive V3 class, our customer cars showed how dependable they are and I congratulate the Toyota Swiss Racing on their great one-two win. We will now again focus upon the TMG GT86 Cup. The exciting first four races have shown that success requires huge commitment and concentration. The excellent field in this TMG GT86 Cup again promises a fascinating race.”
