TOYOTA Racing ended the first practice session of the 6 Hours of Silverstone, fourth round of the FIA World Endurance Championship, with the second fastest time. Each driver took the wheel of the TS030 HYBRID, which has been running with its updated aero package.
Nicolas Lapierre, who started the session: “First I had to take my marks as I didn’t race here since 2010. Our TS030 HYBRID has never run here so we have to make little adjusments. The car was good from the start, with a positive aero balance. We have to find the best compromise between a good level of downforce and the top speed. I think we are in the right direction. The car is really nice to drive in the fast corners : we can see the benefit of our new package.”
Before Alex Wurz, who has made the last run, Kazuki Nakajima discovered the new Silverstone layout : “It was nice to drive on a dry track because rain is expected this afternoon. I had never driven on the new track before: the new part is quite tricky but the old part is still here and I enjoyed it! I had a lot of traffic and it is not easy to find a clear lap here. The car looks competitive and we have several good signs. So we had a positive first session.”
Next praxctice will start at 4 p.m. (UK time).
