TMG GT86 Cup 2016 – The better package

This season, the popular Toyota Motorsport GmbH (TMG) brand cup, the TMG GT86 Cup, promises even more motorsport fun for all participants, and again within the framework of the VLN endurance championship. TMG will field the upgraded version of the tried-and-tested GT86 CS-V3, the GT86 CS-Cup. It is supposed to allow lap times even shorter than now, which is, after all, already less than 10 minutes.

After three successful years with this racer, the attractive brand cup has become a firm part of the VLN. Over the past few seasons, even the multiple winner in the Nürburgring 24h-race V3 class has driven the cup car.

In 2016, TMG again provides ambitious amateur race drivers a professional environment, a tried-and-tested and dependable racer and a better price-performance package. In total, the TMG Cup’s prizes amount to €60,000 in both money and prizes in-kind. Fast deciders can also profit from an early-bird bonus. Registrations by 29 February will only cost €1,800. Then the fee is €2,300 until 19 March, and €2,700 later.

TMG is currently giving its all and further developing the GT86 CS-V3 launched in 2013, focusing on a considerable weight reduction and an upgrade of the engine and specific components. CS-V3 models launched in 2015 can also be upgraded with a special kit to attain 2016 status. 2015 models with no upgrade kit remain eligible, though.

A top performance by the racer aside, TMG also focuses on cost efficiency. At an entry-level price of only €38500 (excl. upgrade kit), low operating costs and an extensive service on the race track, the TMG GT86 Cup provides its teams and drivers a really attractive package. And the new cup car is going to continue that tradition.

TMG will shortly announce further details on the TMG GT86 Cup 2016 and the new cup racer’s specifications.

Nico Ehlert, Principal Engineer customer motorsports: “I’m convinced that the CS-V3 is one of the best close-to-production customer sports cars in the market. But we don’t want to rest on these laurels but take the GT86’s performance to a new level. This project will benefit from all our know-how and three years of cup experience. Needless to say that we also took account of our customers and drivers’ requests and experiences over the past few years. Their expertise was the most important gauge, as it were. And the experiences gained during the development of our R3 rally car have also been used, incl. some components. We expect all these developments to allow for a much better performance, which will also find expression in faster lap times.“
